BABA Meeting Friday, April 8, 2016

Bright Lion’s Club

CALL TO ORDER:  Greg Gronwall calls the meeting to order at 8:05 and welcomes attendees to the Bright Area Business Association.

 

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:

 

ATTENDANCE / ROLL CALL:  Members, guests and visitors signed the attendance sheet. Everyone introduced themselves and their business with a short description of their business.

 

GUEST SPEAKER:   Celeste Calvitto introduce the speakerDearborn County Chief Deputy Dave Lusby who was accompanied by Deputy Brian Janson and Prosecutor

Aaron Negangard.  The topic was Conceal / Cary license responsibilities and training.  The license is available at www.in.gov/isp for $11.95 and the applicant then goes to UPS for fingerprinting.  There is a training “Survive the Threat Domestic Terror Safety Training” on May 1 from 2-5 at the Bright Christian Church. The event is in association with The Dearborn and Ohio County Prosecutor, Dearborn County Sherriff and “Women Armed and Ready”.

LEADERSHIP TEAM REPORTS:

We currently have 70 members.  58 have already paid for 2016.

  • Web Site Report—Bebe Kinnett

Guests were invited to visit the web site at BrightAreaBusinesses.com to opt in to receive the newsletter for meeting reminders.

  • Program Chairman—Celeste Calvitto

May will be an evening Social Meeting.  Date and location to be determined.  This will replace the May 13th morning meeting.  The speaker for June will be State Representative Randy Lyness.

  • Golf Tournament—Monday May 16th at Hidden Valley Golf Club

We need Golfers!  Registrations have been slow to come in.  To be as successful as the past years we also need items for the Goodie Bags, prizes and volunteers.  All volunteers will wear BABA shirts.

  • Festival—Diane Bender

The Festival is the last weekend in July.  The motion was made to purchase additional BABA shirts so volunteers could wear them at the booth. Joni Helton made the motion and Dan Hawkins seconded.  Motion was approved.  Waltz Woodworking can make nametags (approximately $6 depending on style) that can be worn on the opposite of the BABA logo for those that want to advertise their business.

 

 

OLD BUSINESS

Membership Dues—$50—-for calendar year 2016.  Cash, check or credit card.  Contact Cari Vuko or Greg Gronwall if you wish to pay by credit card.  That can be done over the phone.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

The Lawrenceburg H7 Networking Group will be invited to attend the Social meeting in May.

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Mariam A announced that she is collecting plastic bottle caps for a Veteran that needs dialysis. The program is through the West Harrison AmVets. Deadline April 30th.
