Minutes from January 13, 2017
Bebe Kinnett opened the meeting with the pledge to the American Flag. Everyone in attendance introduced themselves and their business in turn. We had 5 guests in attendance. Minutes from the last meeting were approved.
Speaker Therese Copeland from Ivy Tech was very informative about her role with Ivy Tech as Executive Director of Resource Development. She focuses on building relationships for Ivy Tech within communities in the southeast counties of Indiana. She has been with Ivy Tech for 8 years.
Committee Reports
Committee Chair Dan Hawkins presented the newly formed bylaws for approval. Jim Kinnett made the motion to approve and 2nd by Doris Gibbons. Motion approved. The Bylaws Committee will be a standing committee to meet quarterly. President Bebe Kinnett thanked the group for their due diligence and hard work to get the job done in a timely manner. Discussion followed about changing the term “Leadership Team” to “Board of Directors” in the bylaws. Doris Gibbons made the motion for that change, 2nd by Jim Kinnett. Motion approved. See attached Bylaws.
The recently awarded Lauren Hill Award will be at different retail locations in the area. Bebe Kinnett recommended that we have a stand made to keep the award secure and protected. Recommendation was unanimously approved. Waltz Woodworking will make the stand.
Two proposals for the Liability insurance were reviewed. The lower bid with the best coverage was Gibbons Insurance. Gibbons Insurance is a member of BABA. The Board will move forward with that.
Vice President Lori Enright will create a marketing survey for the membership to help decide the best way to promote BABA businesses. Hopefully the survey will be a method for members to voice opinions and suggestions. The survey will be ready soon.
Treasurer Wayne Leslie reported a balance of $5474.94 including several paid memberships this past month.
Event Chair Debby Stutz launched a new BABA event to be held in September or October and will be named “Beer, Bands & BABA-Q. The event will be a fundraiser for local non-profit organizations. Eagle 99.3 will be the sponsor of this event. Doris Gibbons volunteered to be on that planning committee. The remainder of the committee will be formed in the next month.
Membership Chair Alisha Siebert reports that there are 74 BABA members but only 31 have paid for 2017. Several people offered to contact those unpaid members to remind.
Golf Committee Chair Jim Kinnett reports that the Golf Outing is set for May 15, 2017 at Hidden Valley Golf Club. Dearborn County Hospital will be our Gold Sponsor, Mainsource Bank is a Silver Sponsor. Jim expects more sponsors to step forward in the next month.
Festival Chair Diane Bender reports that the Festival date is July 28 & 29 this year.
Bebe Kinnett thanks Celeste for a great job with the Program Committee in the past. BABA is still looking for a new Committee Chair.

Celeste Calvitto got an invitation to the upcoming Presidential Inaugural Ball and will attend with her Stepmother from Baltimore. Many congrats to Celeste were given.
Jim Kinnett offered an invitation to BABA to attend the Harrison Chamber Breakfast on Jan 23 at 7:30 am. Speaker will be U.S. Representative Steve Chabot.
