Bebe Kinnett called the meeting to order at the Beacon Office. Several reports were heard including the Golf Committee Chairperson Greg Gronwell. Greg encouraged everyone to talk about the golf outing every day to interest people in participating. The outing will be a Shamble Scramble which is a bit different that a Scramble. He also said that since there is a separate charge for dinner, maybe some people would be interested in attending the dinner only, if they do not wish to golf. The guest speaker will be Brad Cousino former NFL player for Bengals, New York Giants and Pittsburg Steelers in 1970’s. The committee will continue to reach out to high school golf teams and other local organizations to promote interest in the outing.
Dan Cross reported $150 received in membership fees for last month, $303 expense for golf flyers and cash on hand of $883.
Kate Karaus reports that we have 3 new members including Pat and Pat Leffingwell from Prime Time Pizza, Kristy Evers for Ed Jones and Tech Design.
Guest speaker Kelli Willis, from Small Business Development Centers talked about E-mail and Marketing for our small business. Developing an email list with an opt-out option, blogs, specials, and sales promotions is best business practices and impertinent for marketing success in today’s media. Her job is to help us with content and effective marketing skills. Discussion followed suggesting Mail chimp, and free Survey Monkey.
Good discussion about work force needs in Dearborn County. Skilled trades’ workers are in short supply.
Mike Raferty-Comcast reminded everyone about the free networking opportunity of Hometown Network.com which meets monthly at The Community Center at Riverview Crossing on Sand Run Road.
Jim Mansfield-Mansfield Insurance reminded everyone about Hands and Feet Ministry, the new Coffee House to open in Bright soon. He also asked everyone to “like” BABA on Facebook.
Celeste Calvitto-Bright Beacon offered a full page ad for the week of Bright Festival. BABA members can get an ad for $25 to $40, Celeste will organize and design the page. June 1 is the deadline. The Beacon offered the same to Sunman Wine Festival merchants and it was well received. We expect the same for Bright merchants.
