Introduction of Attendees

Introduction of Guest Speaker – Shane McHenry, Dearborn County Sheriff

– Shane informed the group on items that his department is focusing on:

                – School Resource Officers

                – Fraud/Scams which are currently affecting our local citizens

                – The physical and mental health of his Deputies

                – Changing the Mindset/Accountability of his Deputies

                – Bringing communities together

                – Explorers Program

                – Community Policing

Treasurer’s Report:

– $8,038.13 Combined bank accounts

We are having issues with mail not being delivered to the PO Box next to Wayne’s old office on Stateline;

                – Nicole will follow-up

                – Do we have the ability to change to PO Box to the one next to Tri-Force Fitness?

                – Motion by Jim to relocate the BABA PO Box to Tri-Force Fitness, Second by Nicole

Golf Outing

                – Major Sponsors:

                                – First Financial (Paid $2,500)

                                – Civista

                                – FCN

                                – Cincinnatus

                                – High Point Health

                                – Friendship Insurance/Bank

– The plan is still to have the brochures out my the end of February

– As always, the outing will be the third Monday in May (5/18/2020)

– One foursome has already committed

LMH Rate Increase Town Meeting on 2/13/2020

                – Rate increase is excessive for a one-time increase

                – This was not a Question & Answer session

                – LMH is not a public utility, it is privately owned

                – 24% may be appropriate based on the business needs but all at once doesn’t give residents time to prepare

We are still looking for donations for the BABA Basket for Mardi Gras.  Today is the last day to donate.

Advertising Opportunity:

                – Half-page ad in the Beacon for BABA Members, Business Sized ads

                – The Beacon issues 21,000 papers / month

                – 95% readership

                – $125 per ad

We need a volunteer to Champion our Marketing Endeavor.  We could add a section to the current Newsletter to keep the members updated on the progress and marketing opportunities.

Next month’s meeting: Friday March 13, 2020 will be a Lunch-n-Learn, location TBD

Announcements:

– Work Force will be holding an all-day session on March 9th to focus on the issue of substance abuse and dealing with employees

– Booths will be available at the event
