President Bebe Kinnett opened the meeting by asking Wayne Leslie to lead the group in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Introductions of those in attendance were conducted round robin.

Ginny Faller from ISBDC was one of the guest speakers.  Ginny assists and counsel’s business owners in 6 counties to have successful companies.  She talked specifically about the ISBDC Boot Camp for small startup businesses.  The Boot Camp begins in March and scholarships are available.

Dan Cross spoke about the recently passed tax reform and how it will impact us as small business owners.  Who’s afraid of the IRS?  Dan spoke about why most people are afraid and why they should not be afraid.  He highlighted points of the tax reform beginning in February 2018.

Wayne Leslie reported the BABA balance is $5055.78.  Bebe reminded those in attendance to pay 2018 dues if they have not done so.  Wayne read a thank you note from The North Dearborn Pantry, signed by Bill Ward regarding the BABA recent donation.

Bebe announced that the Dearborn County Chamber has offered BABA members a reciprocal membership.  So, BABA members can participate in meetings and events offered by the chamber.

Jim Kinnett reported on the levels of sponsorship for the Golf Outing and the BABA-Q.

Safe Passage is to be guest speaker at the February meeting.

Cindy Nixon approached the group about organizing a 5K Run/Walk.  This event may possibly precede the BABA-Q and the finish line would be at the Festival grounds.

Diane Bender is looking for suggestions for a different way to raise money at the Bright Festival.  Basket Raffles are increasingly prevalent at the festival, so we don’t raise the funds like we have in past years.

Debby Stutz announced the BABA-Q date is October 13, 2018.  An informational meeting will be held Tuesday, March 23 at 6:30 PM-At The Barn Winery.  Anyone interested in helping with this event should be there.
