Meeting Minutes

April 13, 2012

  1. Call to order

Celeste Calvitto called to order the regular meeting of the Bright Area Business Association at 8 AM on April 13, 2012 at The Beacon in Bright, Indiana.

Introductions were made.

  1. Roll call

The following people were in attendance:  Greg Gronwall, ACN; Celeste Calvitto, The Beacon; Peggy Waltz, The Beacon; Kate Karaus, T-Systems Electric, LLC and All Safe Security, Inc.; Jim Mansfield, Mansfield Insurance Agency; Mike Raftery, Comcast Business Class; Charlie Blankenship, Carousel Cleaners; Michael Wick, BMBA Signs; Ken Fey, Fey’s Services;

Felipe J. Montanez, who is opening a new restaurant called Los Primos Mexican Restaurant is our newest member.

Guest were Tracy Russell, Scent-Sations is from Rising Sun has a very interesting delivery thank-you card systems for businesses.  Other cards can be sent, too.

Brittany Wegman and Linsay Traxler, nursing students from Thomas Moore College, were working on a community project which was part of an assignment to attend a community meeting and report on it.

  1. Approval of minutes from last meeting

Minutes were read by Kate Karaus were approved.  Greg second the motion.  Minutes were approved.

  1. Leadership Team Reports

a.)    President —  In Bebe’s absence, Celeste led the meeting.  After introductions, she turned it over to Greg Cronwell, Chairman of the Golf outing committee.

b.)   Vice-President – None

c.)    Membership –We had 1 new members, Felipe J. Montanez.

d.)   Treasurer’s report –Dan Cross sent in the new balance, $1,259.55.

e.)    Open issue–Greg Gronwall gave us an update on the golf outing which is  Monday, May 21, 2012 and we are limited to 128 teams.  A discussion of the Title sponsorship was discussed.  Mike Raferty, from Comcast and Greg have been talking with Comcast and it is possible that they will sponsor the Title sponsorship, $2500.  After discussion Celeste made a motion that we rename the Golf Outing to “Bright Area Business Association Comcast Golf Outing” and Mike Wick second the motion.  The Title sponsorship may have a team of four golfers, a large banner displaying their business showing that it is the Title Sponsorship.  They may also have a sponsor representative to speak at the outing to promote their business before dinner.  The sign moves to wherever the most action is happening.

Other sponsors are Jim Mansfield, Mansfield Insurance Agency, Inc. is the $750 sponsor.   Comcast is the $1000 sponsor, but if they sponsor the Title Sponsorship this will change.

Jim Mansfield explained how the golf outing was benefiting the Bright Volunteer Fire Department & EMT and the Bright Area Community in North Dearborn county & Harrison, OH.   We are still looking for sponsors and golfers.

Jim Scott has agreed to MC the event and will be playing with Jim Mansfield group.  Snappy’s will be donating lunch.  We have chosen 21 sport items to have in the silent auction.  They set a minimum price for the items and any item not purchased we do not pay for.  We are looking for raffle items and golfers.   We need a lot of volunteers and volunteers to man the refreshment cart.  Each golfer will be fed two meals.  Pat Sullivan has continued to be helpful with the outing.  WSCH may do a live telecast at the start.

We have a sign-up sheet for volunteers.  As of now, we have five (5) foursomes and need many more.
