Bright Area Business Association Meeting Minutes

April 8, 2011

I.      Call to order

Bebe Kinnett called to order the regular meeting of the Bright Area Business Association at 8 am on April 8, 2011 held at The Beacon in Bright, Indiana.

II.      Roll call

The following people were in attendance:  Mike Armbruster, Bebe Kinnett, Jim Kinnett, Celeste Calvitto, Diane Bender, Melissa Wiseman, Dale Lutz, Kenneth Fay, Greg Gronwall and Terri Vetter. Guest Phil Kuhn .

III.      Approval of minutes from last meeting

Minutes had been distributed by email and posted on the web site.  Minutes were approved.

IV.      Leadership Team Reports

a.)    President -Bebe Kinnett gave a report on the website activity.

b.)    Vice President– no report

c.)    Treasure – no report

d.)   Membership -Diane Bender reported that there will be a membership campaign starting in May.  This will include renewals and new members.

e.)    Publicity -Terri Vetter has created a Facebook page for the
Association.  Anyone with a Facebook account, is encouraged to “Like” our new page.  Terri will contact members to update their coupons for the web site and Facebook.

f.)     Programs- Celeste Calvitto introduced our speaker, Phil Kuhn.

V.      Open issues

a)      Bright Festival – T shirts for members were discussed, but the group decided to purchase inexpensive give-aways for the Festival. Dianne Bender will contact the Fire Dept. to determine if they would like the members to help man a booth.

b)      Celeste Calvitto won the door prize gift basket given by Dianne Bender, Logan Supermart.

c)      Each person introduced themselves, gave a brief explanation of their business and announced any sales or specials.

d)     Members discussed how they utilize other member’s businesses.

VI.      New business

a)      Phil Kuhn from the North Dearborn Library gave a presentation on business resources at the library.  Many services are available on-line.

b)      Reference USA – Your Small Business Development Tool is offering an info session on April 11th at 12 PM at the Lawrenceburg branch.

c)      The speaker next month will be Kirk Kuhn from Workforce Development.  He will discuss business resources such as grants, training and posting jobs.

d)     Bright New Image Hair & Tanning Salon, Missy Wiseman, will provide the door prize next month.

e)      Location to be determined.  Moving the location provides an opportunity for members to visit other businesses.  Anyone interested in volunteering their business for a meeting should contact Bebe.

VII.      Adjournment

Bebe Kinnett adjourned the meeting at 9:15 am.
